Near the 150 Metres A Badel’s whip was knocked from his grasp by the whip of A Hamelin, rider of MULTIDARLING. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Sent for sampling post-race.

Crowded shortly after start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, 5 lengths back turning in, finished off well to take 2nd.

After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded between GIMME FIVE and WINNING TURN, both of which shifted ground. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped only fairly. Held up making the Home Turn. For some distance after the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Fast into stride, raced 2 wide better than midfield, there to turn, showed good response early in straight, led briefly 150M, peaked and headed 75M, weakened thereafter.

Near the 1000 Metres got its head up when crowded between MULTIDARLING which was taken out by WINNING TURN and WINNING HEART (A Badel) which shifted in. A Badel was reprimanded.

Made contact at start, taken back to race 2 wide at rear, 6 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, made some headway in straight.

After the event M F Poon reported that his mount failed to run out the 1200 Metres of tonight’s event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping, sent forward to race prominently on the outside, a length or so back turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked 150M, weakened final 100M.

Between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running when unable to improve between SPEEDY FORTUNE and JOYFUL LIFE.

After the event H Bowman stated that his mount travelled only fairly during the race and came under pressure approaching the 600 Metres before failing to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ISLAND GOLDEN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
