Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards gave consideration as to whether there were grounds for a protest/objection when THE BOOM BOX was hampered by EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS which shifted out near the 50 Metres when being corrected by its rider B Thompson. Having regard to the margin of a half length between the two horses at the finish of the event, the Stewards declined to lodge a protest/objection and declared weighed-in on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well from a wide draw, sent forward to take the lead, travelled comfortably in the middle stages, led by 1-1/2L turning in, kept on well in straight but unable to hold off the first two close home.

Bumped on jumping, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 wide from 700M, 3-1/2L back turning in, finished off strongly to score, won by a narrow margin.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 350 Metres was shifted to the inside of IGOR STRAVINSKY to continue into clear running. After the 200 Metres AURIO was steadied and shifted to the inside of RIDING TOGETHER to obtain clear running. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began well from gate 1, raced slightly better than midfield on the inside, 3 lengths or so back, saved ground on turn, finished off well, just beaten by a narrow margin.

Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between SOLID IMPACT and SUPERB BOY which shifted out. Approaching the 800 Metres, when racing keenly, improved to the inside of SOLID IMPACT and was steadied.

Clean jump, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, there to turn, peaked on run 450M, weakened early in straight.

Bumped start and unbalanced, raced at tail, 10 lengths or so back, commenced move 550M, 6 to 7 lengths back turning in, very wide into straight, made very good progress in the run home, nearest on line.

Bumped at the start. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event, A Badel expressed concern with the horse’s action during the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SOLID IMPACT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.
