Began smartly, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length on turn, kept on very well to the line and scored.

Lay in under pressure in the Home Straight. After the event, R Kingscote confirmed that from a wide barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position. Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions issued.

Taken back to race 2 wide towards rear, commenced move 500M, 6 lengths or so back turning in, made good progress in straight to make frame. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event, K Teetan advised that he was instructed to hold a midfield position but when positioned behind HARMONY GALAXY in the early stages he was obliged to settle further back when HARMONY GALAXY did not go forward.

Began only fairly from gate 1, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, finished off evenly.

After the event, Z Purton stated that after settling towards the rear of the field VIVA CHALEUR failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
