Stewards' Comments
Bumped start, raced better than midfield on the outside, no cover throughout, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.
Incident Report
Sent for sampling post-race.
Moderately away from a tricky draw, trapped wide in midfield early, taken back 1150M, raced at rear on the outside in the middle stages, very wide into straight, one-paced in the run home. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
When questioned, L Hewitson stated that after the blindfold was removed from the horse in the starting gates it was given full opportunity to jump but reared as the start was effected. He said as a result ARMOUR WAR EAGLE settled back in the field. When questioned regarding his riding in the early part of the Home Straight, L Hewitson stated that when following EVERYONE’S STAR he elected to remain racing behind that runner as he was of the opinion that he would not be able to secure clear running between POPE CODY and TAMRA BLITZ. He said when POPE CODY commenced to give ground near the 300 Metres he was able to improve to that runner’s inside and obtain clear running to the outside of EVERYONE’S STAR near the 200 Metres where ARMOUR WAR EAGLE finished the race off well. Having considered his explanation in respect of his riding in the Home Straight the Stewards were satisfied that the option that Jockey Hewitson had taken was reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.
Jumped awkwardly, sent forward to race prominently, took the lead 1100M, led by a length turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 100M, weakened gradually final 50M. (Jockey dropped whip near 100M.)
Incident Report
No report.
Jumped with them, raced 3 wide in midfield, there to turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final 300M.
Incident Report
No report.
Crowded start, raced towards rear on the inside early, moved a bit closer along the rail after passing 1100M, positioned in midfield on turn, showed limited response early in straight, ran on evenly to the line.
Incident Report
Bumped at the start.
Slightly slow out, raced 2 wide in midfield, difficult to settle for the majority of the race, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong.
Incident Report
After being crossed by SOLID IMPACT near the 800 Metres raced keenly for some distance thereafter. After the event, J Moreira stated that the instructions were to obtain a position midfield with cover. He said after commencing well and when caught wide in the early stages he elected to continue to improve forward to avoid covering additional ground. He said as a result EVERYONE’S STAR raced in a more forward position than intended.
Taken back from the widest draw, raced 2 wide behind midfield, found rail near 800M, saved ground on turn, finished off evenly.
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded by TAMRA BLITZ which shifted in slightly. Despite being ridden along in the early stages BEAUTY VIVA then did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position. Near the 200 Metres was held up for clear running when endeavouring to obtain a narrow run between SOLID IMPACT and EVERYONE’S STAR.
Out with rest, raced 3 wide behind midfield early, 2 wide on turn, angled out 450M, no clear run early in straight, cleared 350M, made good progress thereafter to be nearest on line.
Incident Report
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, TAMRA BLITZ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Out in line, raced towards rear on the outside, 6 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, made very good progress in straight to take a place, nearest on line.
Incident Report
After the event, A Badel confirmed that from the outside barrier his instructions were to take up a forward position due to the perceived lack of early pace in the event. Trainer D J Hall confirmed the instructions and the reasons as to why such instructions were issued.
Crowded start, raced at rear on the inside, angled out 500M, 6 lengths back turning in, showed some response early in straight, no clear run near 250M, cleared 150M, kept on evenly to the line.
Incident Report
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Average to begin, positioned 2 wide better than midfield, there to turn, no daylight early in straight, cleared 250M, finished off very strongly to score.
