From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event, B Avdulla reported that leaving the 600 Metres his mount shifted out and became unbalanced when reluctant to hold its position to the inside of SAL. He added that near the 350 Metres his mount again became unbalanced when reluctant to hold its position to the inside of HEROIC MASTER and as a result lost ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The racing manners of SPARKLING FELLOW were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLING FELLOW will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend in Hong Kong from an inside barrier and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Bumped shortly after start, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, challenged the leader from 400M, made contact early in straight, peaked 200M, weakened final 50M. (See Racing Incidents.)
