Approaching the 500 Metres was checked to avoid ROMANTIC FANTASY when that runner gave ground quickly. Briefly held up making the Home Turn.

Began well, sat a length behind the leader on rail, there to turn, showed good response in straight took the lead 200M, kept on well to the line, just held on.

Approaching the 500 Metres was taken wider by CAN’T GO WONG.

Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the left side of its barrier and lost ground, positioned 4 to 5 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, taken wide in straight and finished off well to take a place.

Jumped awkwardly. Trainer P C Ng confirmed that from a wide barrier the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages. He said he issued such instructions as QUICK QUICK WIN had been racing disappointingly when taking up a forward position and to offset the wide barrier to assist QUICK QUICK WIN in finishing the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Near the 500 Metres was steadied to avoid ROMANTIC FANTASY which was giving ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Made contact at start, trapped wide in midfield early, moved a bit closer after passing 1600M, 2 lengths or so back in the middle stages, peaked on run 500M, weakened final 400M.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 300 Metres became unbalanced when MISSION STRIKE made contact with the hindquarters of TOY SOLTERO when TOY SOLTERO shifted out slightly and MISSION STRIKE lay in. After the event, L Hewitson stated that when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to steady his mount to avoid racing wide and as a consequence TOY SOLTERO settled further back than what had been intended. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of TOY SOLTERO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TOY SOLTERO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
