Stewards' Comments
Average to begin sent forward to take the lead, travelled comfortably in the middle stages, hard ridden after passing 250M, showed very good response, easily scored, impressive.
Incident Report
Sent for sampling post-race.
Jumped only fairly, raced towards rear on the stands' side, moved closer in the middle stages, unable to obtain clear run until final 100M, finished off strongly to take 2nd. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly. Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by HE WAS YOU which shifted in and away from BINGO BABE. When questioned regarding his riding over the final 400 Metres, M Chadwick stated that after following DO YOUR PART and ROMANTIC NOVELIST he elected to shift in to improve into the event near the 400 Metres and follow GRAND NOVA. He said when GRAND NOVA did not improve as he had expected he then became held up for clear running between GRAND NOVA and DO YOUR PART which shifted in. He said as a result near the 200 Metres he elected to shift to the outside of DO YOUR PART and BINGO BABE to secure clear running and near the 150 Metres his mount was momentarily crowded when BINGO BABE shifted out. He added as a result he was obliged to correct his mount near the 150 Metres to avoid causing interference to ROMANTIC NOVELIST and over the final 100 Metres SUPER STRONG KID finished the race off well. After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Chadwick were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.
Moderately away, raced better than midfield, hard ridden approaching 350M, kept on well to take a place without threatening.
Incident Report
No report.
Jumped well, positioned a length behind the leader on the stands' side, hard ridden after passing 400M, kept on well until approaching 100M, weakened gradually close home.
Incident Report
No report.
Began only fairly, positioned 2 lengths behind the leader on the stands' side, no clear run until final 200M, finished off evenly.
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly. Between the 500 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running behind BINGO BABE.
Commenced well, positioned 2 to 3 lengths behind the leader, 2 away from the stands' rail, hard ridden from 300M but only showed limited response, weakened gradually final 100M. (Lame right front leg next day.)
Incident Report
No report. <3/3/2025 Additional Veterinary Report> The Veterinary Surgeon reported that GRAND NOVA was lame in its right front leg on the day after racing. Before being allowed to race again, GRAND NOVA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Jumped well, sent forward to race prominently, a length or so back at 400M, peaked on run 250M, weakened gradually final furlong.
Incident Report
No report.
Crowded shortly after start, raced behind midfield, kept on same pace final 400M.
Incident Report
Shortly after the start was crowded by BINGO BABE which shifted in. Under pressure over the final 200 Metres lay in.
Fast into stride, tracked leaders on the stands' rail, ridden after passing 400M but not enough room, weakened gradually from 250M, inconvenienced 150M, eased final 100M.
Incident Report
Near the 150 Metres was steadied when crowded by SUPER STRONG KID (M Chadwick) which, after improving to the outside of BINGO BABE (M F Poon), was then taken out by that runner. M Chadwick was advised that he should ensure that there is sufficient room when improving into runs. M F Poon was advised to exercise more care to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground.
Slowly away, raced towards rear of the main group, 6 lengths back at 400M, made no progress thereafter.
Incident Report
On jumping knuckled over badly, became unbalanced and lost ground. After the event, B Shinn stated that following his mount knuckling badly at the start, KA YING RESILIENCE did not travel well thereafter and was unable to respond to his riding when under pressure over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Began well from gate 1, raced slightly behind midfield, nearer to the middle track, 3 to 4 lengths back at 400M, hard ridden 300M but showed no response, weakened thereafter.
Incident Report
No report.
Slightly slow out, raced towards rear, made no progress final 400M.
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly.
Stumbled as stalls opened and missed break, raced at rear throughout, never a factor. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards gave consideration as to whether MULTISUPER had been afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from Jockey D McDonogh, Trainer T P Yung and Starter Mr A Speechley, the Stewards found that as the start was effected the starting gate handler attempted to straighten the horse’s head to allow it to jump with the field. As he did so, MULTISUPER lowered its head, resulting in the horse jumping awkwardly and losing ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that such occurrence occurred as the start was being effected, MULTISUPER was declared a runner. The Stewards ruled that MULTISUPER will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in consecutive barrier trials before being allowed to race again.
Made contact with the left side of its barrier on jumping, always outpaced and behind.
Incident Report
Made contact with the left side of its barrier on jumping and as a result lost ground.
