Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between MAJESTIC EXPRESS and SWEET BRIAR which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Jumped with them, positioned 3 wide in midfield, no cover from 800M, carried wider 550M, made some progress early in straight, peaked on run 150M, weakened gradually close home.

Jumped well from gate 12, sent forward to race prominently on the inside, allowed rival to cross near 800M, sat right behind the leader on turn, no clear run in straight, eased final 100M.

Crowded shortly after the start. Leaving the 950 Metres was checked when crowded between COLOURFUL KING and SWEET BRIAR which shifted in and away from FAST RESPONDER despite the efforts of its rider. Leaving the 400 Metres was shifted to the inside of FAST RESPONDER to obtain clear running. Near the 250 Metres was shifted to the outside of CANDLELIGHT DINNER to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with FAST RESPONDER approaching the 200 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began well from a wide draw, sent forward to race prominently, 2 wide, took the lead approaching 1200M, found rail near 800M, shared lead with rival on turn, peaked and headed 300M, weakened final 200M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Near the 150 Metres was hampered when positioned close to SPARKLING FELLOW which lay in.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide at rear, there to turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened inside final furlong.

Leaving the 950 Metres shifted in, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Near the 600 Metres was eased when racing in restricted room between MAJESTIC EXPRESS and SPARKLING FELLOW which shifted in slightly.

Began well from the widest draw, raced prominently, 3 wide, slightly taken back after passing 1200M, 1 out 1 back from 900M, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong.

Taken back from gate 10, raced 3 wide with cover towards rear, commenced move 500M, very wide into straight, made good progress in the run home.

Lay in in the early part of the Home Straight. When placed under pressure leaving the 500 Metres hung in, shifted a number of horses inwards and proved difficult to ride out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of CANDLELIGHT DINNER were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CANDLELIGHT DINNER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial down the straight whilst being ridden out to the finish.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at tail, 10 lengths or so back, still well back on turn, made good progress in straight to be nearest on line. (See Racing Incidents.)

Approaching the 200 Metres was steadied when it initially lay out towards CRIMSON FLASH which was taken in slightly by SPARKLING FELLOW and MAJESTIC EXPRESS (B Avdulla) which shifted to the outside of CANDLELIGHT DINNER and made contact with FAST RESPONDER. B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care. Lay out throughout the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Average to begin, raced 3 wide with cover behind midfield, angled out 450M, finished off well to take a place.
