Incident Report
When questioned, H Bowman stated that his instructions were to hold an on-pace position and lead if his mount was able to do so comfortably. He said in the early stages SKY HEART did not travel strongly when positioned towards the rail and as a result did not show early pace to hold the front. He said when NEW FUTURE FOLKS was positioned wider on the track and in advance of him, he did not contest the lead and allowed NEW FUTURE FOLKS to cross as he would have had to make use of his mount to prevent that runner from shifting in. He added that his decision to do so was also influenced by the fact that he felt at the horse’s most recent start it had lacked concentration when it was in the lead in the Home Straight. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued. Sent for sampling post-race.
Taken back from the widest draw, raced at tail, 6 lengths or so back turning in, made some progress early in straight, peaked 100M, one-paced thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 800 Metres was steadied away from SKY HEART. Over the final 450 Metres was held up for clear running behind HUGE WAVE and as a result could not be tested in the Home Straight. When questioned regarding his riding, K C Leung stated that the instructions were to find cover behind the expected leader SKY HEART. He said as a consequence he allowed that runner to cross him in the early stages. He said when SKY HEART was then crossed by NEW FUTURE FOLKS, his mount was obliged to settle further back in the field than what had been intended. Trainer F C Lor confirmed the instructions issued.
Crowded start, raced at rear, 5 to 6 lengths back turning in, made good progress in straight to be nearest on line.

Incident Report
