The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in to ascertain whether SHINY RAPIDASH had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from Jockey A Atzeni and Starter, Mr A Speechley, the Stewards found that SHINY RAPIDASH had been fractious prior to the start being effected. They further established that as the start was effected SHINY RAPIDASH turned its head across the inside barrier partition and as a result was slow to begin. As the Stewards were satisfied that this incident occurred simultaneously to the start being effected the horse was declared a starter. The Stewards ruled that SHINY RAPIDASH will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in consecutive barrier trials in Hong Kong before being allowed to race again.

Made contact at start, raced slightly behind midfield on the inside, 2 wide from 850M, commenced move 400M, showed limited response early in straight, weakened final furlong.
