Began well from gate 1, raced in midfield on the inside, 2 wide turning in, kept on well in straight to take a place, no threat to the first two.

Shifted out at the start, made contact with CIRCUIT SEVEN, got its head up and became unbalanced. Near the 150 Metres was shifted to the inside of HARMONY FIRE to continue into clear running. Near the 100 Metres was checked to avoid LEAN MASTER and as a result shifted to the inside of LEAN MASTER to obtain clear running. Noted to have blood at the left nostril on arrival at Sha Tin. An endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be a bleeder. As this was the second occasion that MR VALIANT had bled, the horse is permanently barred from any further racing.

Jumped with them, raced towards rear on the outside, moved closer after passing 600M, 2 lengths back turning in, kept on evenly in straight.

When under pressure in the Home Straight shifted in near the 200 Metres, resulting in its rider Apprentice E C W Wong having to stop riding and straighten his mount.

After the event, H T Mo reported that the instructions were to hold a more forward position but SWEET DIAMOND failed to show sufficient pace to do so. He said when under pressure in the Home Straight SWEET DIAMOND did not respond to his riding and over the concluding stages he had concerns with its action. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SWEET DIAMOND was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race start. Before being allowed to race again, SWEET DIAMOND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Moderately away from a wide draw, raced 2 wide slightly better than midfield, 3 wide from 600M, peaked on run 300M, weakened gradually in straight.

After the event, M Chadwick stated that his mount was slow to begin and as a result settled at the back of the field. He said throughout the event REWARDING TWINKLE raced greenly, lay out and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
