In the early and middle stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 900 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from HAPPY HOLIDAY. Near the 500 Metres was bumped by HAPPY HOLIDAY which shifted out. In the Home Straight raced greenly and proved difficult to ride out.

Away well, raced 2 wide in midfield, 5 lengths back turning in, made some progress in straight.

After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that he was obliged to make some use of his mount in the early stages to cross and lead which resulted in SPICY SPANGLE not being able to finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Away with them, positioned 5 lengths behind the leader on the inside, 2 wide after passing 500M, same margin back turning in, showed limited response early in straight, weakened inside final furlong.

Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start. Became fractious in the barriers, was removed from the starting gates, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, SHOTGUN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Taken back from the widest draw, raced at rear throughout, never a factor.

Dislodged its rider whilst proceeding to the starting gates and as a consequence galloped a considerable distance riderless. Acting on veterinary advice that BROTHER CHENG was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, BROTHER CHENG will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
