Made contact at start, raced 2 wide towards rear in the early stages, 3 wide from 800M, 5 lengths back turning in, made good progress in straight to make frame without threatening. (Blood in trachea.)

Shortly after the start was crowded between ESCAPE ROUTE and HANDSOME BOMB which shifted out. For some distance near the 250 Metres raced tight between CLASSIC CENTURY and TO INFINITY which was taken in slightly by HAPPY AGAIN. Sent for sampling post-race.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 2 lengths or so back, angled out 450M, very wide entering straight and dropped towards rear, made no impression in the run home.

Taken wider approaching the 400 Metres. Near the 50 Metres lay in, resulting in its rider B Avdulla having to stop riding for a short distance and straighten his mount. Sent for sampling post-race.

Approaching the 400 Metres was taken wider by MILES AWAY which shifted out to improve.

Jumped with them, raced towards rear on the inside, 2 wide from 850M, 4 lengths back turning in, made good progress early in straight, no extra final 125M.

Making the Home Turn was held up for clear running and approaching the 300 Metres raced tight to the inside of HAPPY AGAIN which shifted in slightly. Over the final 50 Metres could not be ridden out when positioned close to ATOMIC BEAUTY.

Began well, sat 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on rail, angled out 400M, bumped early in straight, took the lead 200M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 100M.

Shortly after the start was bumped and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event, J McDonald stated that his mount settled back and found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight due to the early pace of the event being run outside of standard time in the early stages. He added in the circumstances he was not too disappointed with the performance of ESCAPE ROUTE. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

In the early stages raced keenly. After the event, C L Chau stated that with his mount having its first race start at Happy Valley, he was instructed to ride HANDSOME BOMB in a midfield position. Trainer W Y So confirmed the instructions issued.

Made contact at start, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length, shared lead with rival from 500M, peaked and headed 400M, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

When caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward where it obtained a position outside the lead near the 1200 Metres. Leaving the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between SILVER KING and DRAGON DELIGHT (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted out. Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.

Began well, raced behind midfield on the inside, 5 lengths or so back, moved a bit closer along the rail on turn, made good progress early in straight, peaked 100M, ran on evenly to the line. (Lame right front leg next day.)

When commencing to give ground after the 350 Metres was steadied when awkwardly placed between SILVER KING and HAPPY AGAIN which shifted out when it made the turn awkwardly.
