After the event, C Y Ho could offer no explanation for his mount’s failure to finish the race off over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Quickly into stride, showed good speed to take the lead, enjoyed the easy lead in the middle stages, kept on very well in straight and scored.

When questioned regarding his riding from the 600 Metres and the reason his mount shifted in and away from the outside rail, L Ferraris stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position but not to make use of his mount to do so as YOUTHFUL SPIRITS had not finished its races off well at its previous starts. He said after sharing the lead in the early stages, from the 600 Metres he endeavoured to encourage his mount to change its lead leg as it was laying in. He added when YOUTHFUL SPIRITS failed to change its lead leg, it continued to lay in which resulted in it shifting in and away from the stand rail and allowing FAST NETWORK to improve to its outside. Having considered his evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Jockey Ferraris.

Made contact at start, raced in 2nd, 2 lengths or so back turning in, kept on well in straight to take a place without threatening.

After the event, M Chadwick stated that after holding an on-pace position, his mount was unable to finish the race off over the concluding stages when placed under pressure. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
