Began only fairly, raced 2 wide slightly behind midfield, commenced move 350M, finished off very strongly, led close home.

Began smartly from the widest draw, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/2L on turn, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed approaching 150M, weakened final 100M.

After the event, L Hewitson confirmed that from an inside barrier he was requested to take up a forward position on the horse. Noted to have sustained a small wound to the left front leg. Sent for sampling post-race.

Crowded start, raced in midfield on the outside early, moved closer from 1100M, positioned 2nd in the middle stages, kept on well early in straight, took the lead 150M, headed 100M, weakened quickly thereafter.

Jumped only fairly. Near the 150 Metres raced tight between HO HO STAR and THE GOOD DEAL which was giving ground. Near the 50 Metres H Bentley dropped his left rein for a short distance.

Away well, raced slightly behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, unable to obtain clear run in straight.

Raced wide and without cover from the 600 Metres.

Bumped start, raced towards rear on the outside, very wide into straight, made some progress in the run home.

Jumped only fairly. In the early stages raced keenly. After the 300 Metres proved reluctant to shift to the outside of JOYFUL LIFE when it lay in. As a result, HO HO STAR was shifted to the inside of JOYFUL LIFE approaching the 200 Metres to obtain clear running. HO HO STAR continued to lay in and near the 150 Metres improved into a tight run between WINNING HEART and WOODFIRE CHAMP which shifted in slightly. Over the concluding stages HO HO STAR could not be ridden out when improving into a tight run between WINNING HEART and GORGEOUS VITALITY which shifted in.

Bumped start, raced in midfield on the outside, no cover for the majority of the race, finished off strongly to take 2nd, just beaten by a narrow margin.

Shifted in at start and bumped, raced 2 wide towards rear, similar position on turn, no clear run until final 100M, finished off evenly.

Raced wide and without cover until the 600 Metres. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to the heels of GORGEOUS VITALITY and racing tight between HO HO STAR and JOYFUL LIFE.

Made contact with the left side of its barrier on jumping and lost ground, raced at tail, 8 lengths back turning in, made very good progress in straight to make frame.

When the pace eased near the 750 Metres was steadied to avoid the heels of THE GOOD DEAL. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned behind GORGEOUS VITALITY and racing tight to the inside of SUPER CHARIZZARD which lay in and away from PODIUM. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea and also found it to have sustained a small laceration to the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL LIFE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Moderately away, raced better than midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, made some progress early in straight, no clear run near 150M, cleared 75M, ran on evenly, short of run close home.

Passing the 200 Metres was eased to avoid HO HO STAR which shifted in.

Average to begin, raced 2 wide in midfield, there to turn, kept on well in straight without threatening.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 100 Metres was eased when racing tight to the inside of THE GOOD DEAL which shifted in when giving ground before being corrected by its rider Z Purton.

Began well from gate 1, raced towards rear on the inside, 8 lengths back turning in, made no impression in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Jumped well, raced in 3rd, 2 wide, same position on turn, showed good response in straight, took the lead 100M, kept on well but unable to hold off the first two close home.

Near the 750 Metres was steadied when crowded between WOODFIRE CHAMP and JOYFUL LIFE which, after being awkwardly placed close to THE GOOD DEAL when the pace steadied, was obliged to shift to that runner’s outside. The Stewards found that the pace of the event steadying at that stage was the reason for the incident occurring.
