Bumped heavily and unbalanced at start, raced 2 wide in midfield, raced tight near 600M, checked 400M, made no progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Over the concluding stages lay in, placing its rider L Ferraris at a disadvantage in that he could not fully test the horse to the finish. L Ferraris was warned for using his whip forward of the saddle in a forehand manner. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began only fairly, raced at tail, 6-1/2L back, saved ground on turn, failed to close off in straight.

On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to RISING FROM ASHES was replaced. Crowded on jumping. After the 500 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied away from FIND MY LOVE.

Severely checked shortly after start, raced behind midfield on the inside, 3 lengths or so back, saved ground on turn, no clear run early in straight, cleared 150M, finished off well to make frame without threatening.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event, B Avdulla stated that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the race and coughed post-race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, REWARD SMILE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
