Average to begin, positioned a length or so back on the middle track, hard ridden from 250M, showed very good response, took the lead 50M, kept on well to the line and scored.

Had its left hind plate refitted in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. On jumping shifted out and away from SHOW ME YOUR LOVE and as a result was corrected by its rider Apprentice H Y Yuen. Apprentice H Y Yuen was fined the sum of $2,000 for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 3 consecutive strides passing the 200 Metres.

Began only fairly from gate 1, raced prominently on the middle track, kept on well until approaching 100M, weakened gradually final 50M.

Jumped only fairly. When placed under pressure in the Home Straight raced greenly and proved difficult to ride out. A Atzeni was fined the sum of $10,000 in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 250 Metres.

K Teetan was warned in relation to using his whip on a horse that was clearly out of contention.

H Bentley stated that the intention was to go forward and lead the event. He said when SECRET INGREDIENT jumped awkwardly and lost ground it settled further back in the field than expected. He said in the early stages SECRET INGREDIENT raced keenly and near the 800 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid TALENTS CHAMPION. He added, in his opinion, SECRET INGREDIENT did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
