Stewards' Comments
Moderately away, raced 2 wide behind midfield, angled out 450M, unable to obtain clear run until approaching final 100M, finished off very strongly, led close home.
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly. Between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between NORTHERN FIRE BALL and ETALON OR. In this incident, PATCH OF COSMO shifted out and made contact with ETALON OR on a number of occasions. Sent for sampling post-race.
Bumped start and unbalanced, positioned 3 wide with cover, 2-1/2L back, there to turn, finished off strongly, just beaten by a narrow margin.
Incident Report
On jumping was bumped heavily by ETALON OR which shifted in, resulting in JUNEAU PRIDE becoming unbalanced. Sent for sampling post-race.
Shifted out at start and bumped, sent forward to take the lead, 2 wide, travelled well to turn, hard ridden 300M, kept on well but unable to hold off the first two close home.
Incident Report
Shifted out at the start and was bumped. Near the 170 Metres jumped a mark on the track.
Began fairly, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, no daylight early in straight, cleared approaching 200M, finished off strongly, nearest finish.
Incident Report
For a short distance approaching the 250 Metres lay in and was held up behind SANTORINI.
Bumped start, raced behind midfield on the outside, very wide into straight, made very good progress in straight to be nearest on line. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Shifted in at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and as a result became unbalanced. On a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres was bumped by PATCH OF COSMO. Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards gave consideration if there were grounds for a protest/objection against PATCH OF COSMO being declared the winner on behalf of the connections of ETALON OR due to contact being made on a number of occasions between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres. As the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds due to both runners shifting ground and when connections did not lodge a protest/objection, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
Jumped well from gate 10, unable to slot in, trapped 4 wide, 2 lengths or so back, no cover throughout, finished off evenly. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Fractious in the gates after being loaded. Was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, NORTHERN FIRE BALL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and a warning was placed on its barrier manners. Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Taken back from gate 9, raced at rear, 6 lengths back turning in, made good progress in straight without threatening.
Incident Report
In the early part of the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out.
Taken back from a wide draw, raced 2 wide towards rear, angled out after passing 500M, 4 lengths back turning in, made some progress in the run home.
Incident Report
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When being shifted across behind runners in the early stages commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid PATCH OF COSMO which shifted out slightly.
Moderately away, positioned 2 wide, 1-1/2L back, there to turn, hard ridden approaching 300M but only showed limited response, weakened gradually final 100M.

Began well from gate 1, raced prominently on the inside, there to turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final 250M. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
After the event, H Bowman stated that his mount was able to lead the event without being pressured and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight. He said he could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Began only fairly, tracked leaders, 3 wide, a length back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
After the event, M Chadwick stated that he had anticipated CIRCUIT JOLLY continuing forward to cross SANTORINI which would allow his mount to obtain a position one-off. He said when CIRCUIT JOLLY remained racing to the outside of SANTORINI, RUN YES RUN was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and this was the reason for its failure to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Bumped shortly after start, raced towards rear on the inside, peaked on turn, weakened early in straight.
Incident Report
Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded between SMILING EMPEROR and CIRCUIT JOLLY which shifted out. Leaving the 800 Metres when reluctant to hold its position to the inside of PATCH OF COSMO was steadied when racing tight to the inside of that runner.
