Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.

Near the 900 Metres SKY TRUST, which was racing keenly, was eased to avoid STELLAR EXPRESS (A Atzeni) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. A Atzeni was advised to exercise more care. Sent for sampling post-race.

Bumped on jumping, raced in midfield, nearer to the middle track, commenced move after passing 350M, hit the front 150M, kept on well to the line and scored.

Jumped only fairly. C Y Ho was fined the sum of $8,000 for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 2 consecutive strides near the 150 Metres.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of A Atzeni, 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race. A Atzeni stated that his mount failed to run out the 1200 Metres of today’s race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Average to begin, sent forward to take the lead, led by 3/4L at 400M, peaked and headed 150M, ran on evenly to the line. (See Racing Incidents.)

Shortly after the start was bumped by WUNDERBAR and became unbalanced. Near the 350 Metres shifted out and was bumped on the hindquarters. M F Poon reported that his mount initially responded to his riding in the early stages of the Home Straight but over the concluding stages did not run on which he attributed to the horse performing better on a surface with more give in it. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
