Bumped start, raced better than midfield on the inside, saved ground throughout, kept on evenly in straight.

Made contact at start, taken back to race towards rear on the outside, 5 lengths or so back, angled out 450M, made some progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Near the 500 Metres was bumped by LUCKY TOGETHER when that runner was taken wider. In the Home Straight lay in under pressure. Sent for sampling post-race.

Taken back from gate 12, raced at tail, 6 lengths or so back turning in, made good progress in straight without threatening. (See Racing Incidents.)

Jumped awkwardly and then made contact with JOLTIN.

Shifted out at start and bumped, raced slightly behind midfield on the outside, 4 lengths or so back turning in, made very good progress in straight, just beaten in a ding-dong battle.

Jumped with them, raced 3 wide, 1-1/2L back, 2 wide from 700M, same margin back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Away with them, positioned 2 wide, 4 lengths or so back, there to turn, made minor progress early in straight, no extra final 150M.

Jumped only fairly. In the middle stages raced keenly when being steadied to allow RED SEA to cross. Between the 450 Metres and the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of RED SEA.

Clean jump, raced prominently on the inside, travelled well to turn, took the lead early in straight, kept on well but unable to hold off the first few on line.

Shifted out abruptly on jumping and was bumped. When questioned Apprentice E C W Wong stated that he was requested to hold an on-pace position. He said as his mount was dropping back in distance he rode it along in the early stages to ensure he was able to comply with his instructions. He said when caught wide to the outside of HAROLD WIN in the early stages and when his mount was not showing sufficient pace to cross that runner, he then elected to endeavour to obtain cover behind HAROLD WIN. He added as ANODE was racing keenly it would not respond to his efforts to restrain and obtain cover which resulted in ANODE racing very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Out with rest, sent forward to race prominently on the outside, took the lead near 950M, shared lead with rival turning in, peaked and headed early in straight, weakened final furlong.

At declaration time, M L Yeung was declared as the rider of both JOLTIN and TACTICAL VICTORY. It was established that M L Yeung had a firm commitment to ride JOLTIN. As such, the Stewards permitted R Kingscote to be substituted as the rider of TACTICAL VICTORY. For this declaration error, Jockey Yeung was fined $2,000. Jumped only fairly and then was steadied when crowded between RED SEA and ANODE which shifted out abruptly.

Away well, raced in midfield, 3 lengths or so back, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Had its right hind plate refitted in the saddling stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. After improving to the outside of RISING FROM ASHES near the 500 Metres was then hampered when taken wider by RISING FROM ASHES (H T Mo) which shifted out whilst not clear, resulting in LUCKY TOGETHER making contact with MICKLEY. H T Mo was advised to exercise more care.

Crowded start, raced slightly behind midfield on the inside, a bit closer on turn, angled out early in straight, finished off strongly to snatch victory in a ding-dong finish.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, failed to make any progress in straight. (Bled.) (Roarer.)

Approaching the 600 Metres was eased when racing tight to the inside of TACTICAL VICTORY. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, RISING FROM ASHES will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
