Shifted out at start and bumped, raced slightly behind midfield on the outside, 4 lengths or so back turning in, made very good progress in straight, just beaten in a ding-dong battle.

Near the 1300 Metres was checked to avoid LUCKY CANDY when that runner gave ground quickly. Sent for sampling post-race.

L Hewitson stated that when his mount jumped well it was able to go forward and lead the event, particularly with the early stages being run outside of standard time. Sent for sampling post-race.

Near the 500 Metres improved into a narrow run between LEGEND WINNER and NATURAL NUMBERS and as a result made contact with NATURAL NUMBERS. Between the 450 Metres and the 250 Metres was badly held up for clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.

Clean jump, raced prominently on the inside, travelled well to turn, took the lead early in straight, kept on well but unable to hold off the first few on line.

Out with rest, sent forward to race prominently on the outside, took the lead near 950M, shared lead with rival turning in, peaked and headed early in straight, weakened final furlong.

Jumped only fairly, shifted out and bumped SHANWAH. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running. After obtaining clear running leaving the 300 Metres ENTHUSIUM was again held up for clear running when disappointed for a run between CHILL EASY and NATURAL NUMBERS and as a result was shifted to the inside of NATURAL NUMBERS near the 100 Metres to secure clear running.

Bumped start, raced better than midfield on the inside, saved ground throughout, kept on evenly in straight.

Approaching the 1300 Metres was steadied when crowded by NATURAL NUMBERS (M F Poon) when that runner shifted out after being crossed by WITHOUT COMPARE. M F Poon was advised to exercise more care. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Leaving the 1500 Metres was hampered when taken wider by LUCKY CANDY which shifted out abruptly. K Teetan reported that his mount raced greenly throughout the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Made contact at start, taken back to race towards rear on the outside, 5 lengths or so back, angled out 450M, made some progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

H Bowman explained that when positioned to the outside of CHILL EASY approaching the 1300 Metres he was commencing to steady his mount to obtain cover behind CHILL EASY. He said when CHILL EASY was taken out GLITTERING LEGEND was hampered when crowded between ENDUED and CHILL EASY.

Taken back from gate 12, raced at tail, 6 lengths or so back turning in, made good progress in straight without threatening. (See Racing Incidents.)

On jumping struck the heels of A TIME FOR US and blundered badly when A TIME FOR US shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider Y L Chung. Near the 1300 Metres was steadied to avoid LUCKY CANDY when that runner shifted in.

Away well, raced in midfield, 3 lengths or so back, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Shifted in abruptly on jumping, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Y L Chung reported that his mount hung in when placed under pressure in the Home Straight and gave ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped on jumping, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 3 wide turning in, finished off strongly, just beaten by a neck.

Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with MIGHTY MASTS. When questioned K C Leung stated that with the hood being removed for today’s race he had been requested to ride the horse quietly in the early stages to attempt to have it settle. He said after being positioned behind MIGHTY MASTS in the early stages he endeavoured to restrain his mount but when the pace was being run outside of standard time in the early stages, LUCKY CANDY commenced to race fiercely, got its head up and as a result shifted out when being checked. He added LUCKY CANDY continued to race fiercely throughout the early stages and refused to settle. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of LUCKY CANDY were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY CANDY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial.
