Began awkwardly and bumped, raced in midfield, 2 wide, wider from 550M, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the 500 Metres was bumped and taken wider by HAPPY HERO when that runner shifted to the outside of STORM WINNER to obtain clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well, raced better than midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept to inside after straightening and made good progress, not quite able to challenge.

Bumped shortly after start, raced better than midfield but trapped wide, moved closer after passing 1050M, 2nd in the middle stages, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Shifted out abruptly at the start.

Moderately away from gate 1, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1-3/4L turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 150M, weakened gradually thereafter.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SPECIAL HEDGE at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPECIAL HEDGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Average to begin, tracked leaders, 2 wide, 2 lengths or so back on turn, hard ridden from 350M, took the lead approaching 150M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 50M.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced towards rear, found rail 1000M, saved ground on turn, no clear run early in straight, made some progress thereafter.

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to SPECIAL HEDGE which was giving ground. After the event, C Y Ho reported that his mount hung in under pressure in the Home Straight and proved difficult to ride out. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, STORM WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On jumping was crowded by SOARING BRONCO which shifted out abruptly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, found rail approaching 800M, saved ground on turn, no clear run early in straight, cleared 300M, finished off strongly to score.

After being crossed by AFFORDABLE leaving the 1300 Metres commenced to race keenly and when positioned tight to the outside of THE AZURE continued to race keenly and struck the heels of AFFORDABLE and blundered.

Made contact at start, raced at tail, 9 lengths or so back on turn, very wide into straight, made no impression in the run home. (See Racing Incidents.)
