Stewards' Comments

1APOLAR FIGHTER周俊樂

Jumped well, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on rail, saved ground on turn, kept on evenly in straight.

Incident Report
Sent for sampling post-race.

2STERLING WONGCHOY布文

Began well from a wide draw, raced 2 wide slightly behind midfield early, commenced move 500M, very wide turning in, made very good progress early in straight, peaked on run 100M, ran on evenly to the line.

Incident Report
Bumped on jumping. Near the 1500 Metres, STERLING WONGCHOY, which was racing keenly, was steadied to avoid LOADED WITH FLUKE (R Kingscote) which shifted in and away from VIVA CHALEUR. Whilst the Stewards accepted that R Kingscote had made some effort to correct his mount he was advised to exercise more care. Near the 100 Metres brushed with APOLAR FIGHTER when that runner shifted in slightly. As a result STERLING WONGCHOY then shifted in and away from APOLAR FIGHTER and made contact with COURIER MAGIC. H Bowman was questioned in relation to his right arm extending out and away from his body over the concluding stages which resulted in it being placed near the head of COURIER MAGIC. H Bowman explained that he was riding his mount out in his usual manner during that stage of the race and was gathering his reins at this point which resulted in his right arm extending out and away from his body. He added towards the finish of the event his actions did not change although he did concede his right arm was positioned close to the head of COURIER MAGIC. Z Purton, rider of COURIER MAGIC, stated that he was not aware this incident occurred during the running of the race. After considering his evidence the Stewards accepted the explanation of Jockey Bowman that he did not intentionally place his right arm in the vicinity of COURIER MAGIC, however, he was advised to ensure that, wherever possible, his arm does not make contact with another horse during the running of the race. Sent for sampling post-race.

3COURIER MAGIC潘頓

Made contact shortly after start, raced 2 wide in midfield, similar position on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened inside final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Shifted in at the start and was bumped. Near the 1400 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from APOLAR FIGHTER. Bumped near the 100 Metres. Z Purton reported that his mount lay out throughout the event. Sent for sampling post-race.

4STRONGEST BOY田泰安

Began well, positioned 2 wide, 2 lengths or so back, wider turning in, finished off strongly, led close home.

Incident Report
No report.

5BEAUTY MISSILE巴度

Jumped with them, made contact shortly after start, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, one-paced in the run home.

Incident Report
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

6GALE SAGA麥道朗

Taken back from gate 9, raced 2 wide towards rear, a bit closer on turn, made no progress in straight.

Incident Report
No report.

7SMASHING EXPRESS艾道拿

Began only fairly from gate 1, showed no early speed, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, showed limited response early in straight, no clear run 200M to 100M, ran on evenly to the line.

Incident Report
On jumping was crowded by FOREMOST TEDDY which shifted out. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

8SUPREME WINNER潘明輝

Clean jump, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length turning in, kept on well in straight but unable to hold off the winner close home.

Incident Report
No report.

9FOREMOST TEDDY黃寶妮

Made contact shortly after start, raced behind midfield on the outside, travelled keenly in the early stages, 6 lengths back on turn, made no impression in straight.

Incident Report
Shifted out at the start and made contact with SMASHING EXPRESS. Near the 350 Metres blundered when briefly crowded for room between BEAUTY MISSILE and COURIER MAGIC which lay out. Apprentice P N Wong stated that the instructions were to go forward. She said her mount failed to show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so which resulted in it settling further back in the field before being unable to finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

10VIVA CHALEUR鍾易禮

Jumped well from a wide draw, sent forward to race in 2nd, 3 wide in the early stages, 2 wide from 800M, a length back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened final 150M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
When questioned Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to attempt to find a position midfield with cover. He said from the outside barrier VIVA CHALEUR jumped well and as a result was able to hold a forward position in the early stages. He added that with blinkers being applied for the first time VIVA CHALEUR over-raced throughout the early stages which resulted in the horse improving to the lead. He further stated that although he was aware that the sectional times were being run inside of standard time he was unable to set a more sustainable pace as VIVA CHALEUR was racing too keenly and would not respond to his efforts to come back. He said due to its racing manners VIVA CHALEUR weakened in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have an epiglottic entrapment.

11LOADED WITH FLUKE金誠剛

Taken back from the widest draw, raced at tail, 6 lengths or so back turning in, passed some tired runners in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
No report.

12DECRELOT霍宏聲

Began only fairly, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, no clear run near 250M, ran on evenly to the line. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
L Ferraris stated that the instructions were to go forward. He said when DECRELOT did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so it settled back in the field. He added that throughout the event DECRELOT appeared to be displaying a respiratory issue and as a consequence when not in a competitive position in the Home Straight he did not ride it out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DECRELOT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DECRELOT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
