Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when racing tight to the inside of YOUNG FIGHTER which shifted in. After the event M F Poon stated that he was instructed to find cover if circumstances permitted. He said in the early stages he endeavoured to comply with his instructions but when caught wide and without cover he elected to allow SMART CITY to stride forward to endeavour to obtain a position closer to the rail. He added that as a result SMART CITY was obliged to race wide and without cover until near the 700 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

He said when STAR GLOW improved to his outside he was content to allow that horse to cross his mount as he felt a position with cover would be advantageous.

Incident Report
Bumped at the start. After the event C Y Ho stated that from a wide barrier he was given the option of taking up a forward position. He said when STAR GLOW commenced well and the early stages of the event were run outside of standard time he elected to allow STAR GLOW to stride forward and race outside the lead in the early stages. He added that STAR GLOW was unable to finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained small lacerations to the left hind pastern and heel. The performance of STAR GLOW, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, STAR GLOW will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
