Results
Settled 2-wide ahead of midfield, in touch making the turn for home, stayed on mildly towards the finish and just lost out in a photo finish for 3rd and 4th.
Away well, positioned 2 wide, 2-1/2L back, same position on turn, showed very good response in straight, took the lead approaching 50M, won going away.
Began only fairly from a wide draw, raced behind midfield on the outside, 6 lengths back turning in, made some progress in straight.
Taken back from gate 12, raced at rear, 4 to 5 lengths back turning in, made some progress in straight.
Jumped with them, sent forward to take the lead, challenged by rivals on turn, peaked and headed 300M, weakened final 200M. (See Racing Incidents.) (Mucus in trachea.)
Jumped with them, raced prominently on the stands' rail, hard ridden 300M but only showed limited response, kept on same pace to the line.
Slightly slow out, raced at rear on the stands' rail, passed some tired runners final 400M.

ACE HIGH was trained by David Payne in Australia with a record of 5 wins, 3 seconds and 1 third in 28 starts, winning distance from 1400M to 2500M. He ran on only ordinary at age 2 and made significant process at 3YO in spring to land G3 Gloaming Stakes with Tye Angland on board, G1 Spring Champion Stakes and Victoria Derby but just failed in Australian Derby. In 2018, he finished 15th in Caulfield Cup and 20th in Melbourne Cup. The son of HIGH CHAPARRAL commenced stud duties in 2019 and stationed at Rich Hill Stud, New Zealand with 4 black type contest winner which is 2023 New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner MOLLY BLOOM. In 2025, his fee is NZD$ 15,000. ARMOR GOLDEN EAGLE was formerly known as KATASHI and trained by Janenne Dalley in New Zealand with 1 win and 1 second in 2 starts. After 2 barrier trials, he led all the way and held off challenge to win on his debut in a 1150M event at Te Aroha, then ran on for 2nd in a 1400M contest at the same racecourse with blinkers. His sire ACE HIGH was 2500M VRC Derby hero and most of his next generations ran on well in middle distance events. His dam AKERRA won at 1200M and 1300M. As a grandson of former HK Vase runner-up EKRAAR, the bay gelding should be fine to handle up to mile and prefer racing handy.
