Moderately away from the widest draw, raced better than midfield but trapped wide, moved a bit closer after passing 1000M, 2nd on turn, 2 wide, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually final 100M.

Lay out on the Home Turn. Z Purton was reprimanded for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 2 consecutive strides inside the 150 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Bumped shortly after start, raced 2 wide towards rear, 6 lengths or so back, angled out 500M, made no progress in straight.

After the event J Orman stated that his mount commenced awkwardly and lost ground. He said as a consequence RIDING HIGH settled further back in the field than what had been intended.

Approaching the 700 Metres was checked when crowded between YOU’REMYEVERYTHING which lay out and MODEST GENTLEMAN (A Atzeni) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. A Atzeni was severely reprimanded.

Shifted out shortly after start and bumped, positioned 4 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, no clear run early in straight, cleared 200M, closed off well to take a place, no threat to the first two.

Jumped awkwardly. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Trainer M Newnham confirmed that from the outside barrier he had instructed B Avdulla to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Taken back from gate 13, raced at rear on the outside, 7 lengths or so back, very wide into straight, showed no response early in straight, eased final furlong. (Bled.)

After the event K Teetan stated that after settling in a midfield position his mount found it difficult to make up any ground in the Home Straight from that position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Jumped well from gate 12, sent forward to take the lead, enjoyed the easy lead in the middle stage, kicked clear early in straight, kept on very well to the line and scored.

On jumping made contact with the right side of the starting gate, became unbalanced and lost ground. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Briefly held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the event R Kingscote stated that he was instructed to endeavour to hold a forward position. He said when his mount was unable to cross runners to its inside CONCORDE STAR was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a consequence gave ground in the Home Straight. Trainer Y S Tsui confirmed the instructions and stated that they were issued on the basis that the horse had raced disappointingly last preparation when being ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages.
