No report. <22/9/2024 18 September 2024 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 8 (36)> Y L Chung was reminded of his obligations not to use the whip in a manner where he does not provide his mounts the opportunity to respond to his use of the whip.

Bumped shortly after start, positioned slightly better than midfield on the inside, 2 lengths or so back, saved ground on turn, finished off evenly.

Shifted out shortly after start and made contact, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept on evenly early in straight, weakened gradually final 100M. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event, H Bowman stated that his instructions were to endeavour to hold a forward position. He said due to the pace of the event being run inside of standard time in the early stages MOMENTS IN TIME was obliged to race wide. He added after making the first turn he improved forward to cross FLAMINGO TRILLION and raced outside the lead to avoid continuing to race wide.

Shifted out at start and bumped, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length, challenged by rival turning in, kept on very well in straight and scored.

Began well from gate 1, raced in 2nd, a length or so back, challenged the leader turning in, kept on well in straight but always held.

Trainer C S Shum was fined the sum of $3,000 for presenting HELENE FEELING in the Parade Ring with a parade hood which was not part of that horse’s declared gear. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After improving to the inside of FLAMING RABBIT near the 300 Metres was taken in slightly by that runner. Approaching the 150 Metres became held up for clear running behind YELLOWFIN which was giving ground and after being shifted to the outside of YELLOWFIN near the 100 Metres again had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned close to MR ASCENDENCY. As a result, HELENE FEELING did not obtain clear running until near the 50 Metres.

Reared as stalls opened and missed break, raced towards rear on the inside early, 2 wide after passing 900M, very wide turning in, failed to close off in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Near the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid YELLOWFIN (L Hewitson) which shifted in when not clear. L Hewitson was reprimanded.

Away well, raced better than midfield on the outside, 2-1/2L back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong.

After the event, L Hewitson stated that his mount came under pressure near the 400 Metres and gave ground in the Home Straight. He added, in his opinion, YELLOWFIN would benefit from tonight’s performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of YELLOWFIN was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, YELLOWFIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event, A Hamelin reported that his mount did not fully stretch out during the running of the event and changed stride on a number of occasions in the Back Straight. He added in the Home Straight when he was concerned there may be something amiss with NATURAL STORM, he did not fully test his mount. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of NATURAL STORM was considered to be unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NATURAL STORM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
