Began awkwardly, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, made no progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

When questioned Apprentice E C W Wong stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position. He said when the start was effected his mount jumped well and was able to hold the lead without being pressured to do so. Sent for sampling post-race.

Bumped shortly after start, trapped wide in midfield, no cover on turn, weakened early in straight when hard run took effect.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well, raced prominently early, positioned 2 wide better than midfield after passing 900M, 2 lengths back turning in, hit the front 250M, kept on very well in straight to hold off the challenger late.

Bumped on jumping. Near the 550 Metres was steadied to avoid FIREFOOT. After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on FAST SPEED at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FAST SPEED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Jumped awkwardly, raced 3 wide with cover behind midfield, 4 to 5 lengths back turning in, made no impression in straight.

Shortly after the start was steadied away from ROMANTIC FANTASY which shifted out. From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1800 Metres raced tight to the inside of FAST SPEED.

After the event A Atzeni stated that his mount jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after. He said as a result FIREFOOT settled further back in the field than intended. He added that his mount travelled comfortably during the event but finished the race off in a one-paced manner in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Away well, sent forward to take the early lead, headed near 950M, 2nd in the middle stages, showed some response early in straight, peaked 150M, ran on evenly to the line.
