Bumped shortly after the start. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped with them, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, travelled keenly in the early stages, a length back on turn, showed good response in straight, took the lead approaching 150M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner close home.

Leaving the 100 Metres was eased to avoid MODEST GENTLEMAN (A Atzeni) when that runner continued to shift out. A Atzeni was reprimanded.

Crowded start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, 5 lengths back, angled out 400M, slightly short of room early in straight, kept on same pace to the line.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 250 Metres was briefly held up when improving into a narrow run between LIFE OF STONE and WOOD ON FIRE.

Began only fairly, raced in midfield on the inside, angled out 350M, kept on well in straight to make frame without threatening.

Shortly after the start bumped with MODEST GENTLEMAN. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear on the outside, 6 to 7 lengths back on turn, failed to make any progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Between the 300 Metres and the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a tight run between HAPPY TANGO and WOOD ON FIRE and in this incident made contact with WOOD ON FIRE.

Began well, positioned 2 wide, 2 lengths or so back, there to turn, kept on well early in straight, peaked 100M, weakened gradually thereafter.

Slow to begin. After the 100 Metres was checked when disappointed for clear running between HAPPY TANGO and GUSTY FIGHTER which was taken out by MODEST GENTLEMAN (A Atzeni). A Atzeni was severely reprimanded. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight M L Yeung stated that after placing his mount under pressure in the early part of the Home Straight he then observed a run develop between HAPPY TANGO and GUSTY FIGHTER after the 200 Metres. He said as a result he then shifted his mount out with a view to taking that run, however, when that run closed after the 150 Metres he was checked when disappointed. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 wide from 500M, commenced move 400M, finished off strongly to score.

Jumped only fairly. After the event K De Melo expressed concern with his mount’s action in front when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, LIFE OF STONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Taken back from gate 11, raced at rear on the inside, angled out after passing 400M, passed some tired runners in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event Apprentice E C W Wong advised that after travelling a short distance his saddle shifted back, resulting in SPEEDY FORTUNE bucking and being retired from the event. The gear used by Apprentice Wong was inspected and found to be in good working condition.
