Began well, taken back to race behind midfield on the inside, 5 lengths back on turn, made some progress early in straight, peaked on run 100M, weakened gradually thereafter. (Jockey dropped whip 100M.)

Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded between CHATEAUNEUF and CALIFORNIA DEEPLY which shifted out. Over the concluding stages lay in, resulting in its rider A Atzeni having to stop riding and straighten his mount. A Atzeni was issued with a warning for using his whip in a forehand manner forward of the saddle. Sent for sampling post-race.

Average to begin, raced behind midfield, 6 lengths back turning in, made very good progress in straight to take 2nd, nearest on line.

After the event, L Hewitson stated that from his wide barrier he was asked to take up an on-pace position as last start the horse settled back in the field and had difficulty securing clear running in the Home Straight. Trainer K W Lui confirmed the instructions issued. Sent for sampling post-race.

Moderately away from gate 1, positioned 1-1/2L behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept on well in straight but always held.

Jumped only fairly. After the event, M L Yeung reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and when not in a competitive position he eased it down from the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of UP WITH CHARM was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, UP WITH CHARM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
