Began well, raced better than midfield on the inside, easy run to turn, finished off strongly to take 2nd, just beaten by a narrow margin.

Incident Report
Near the 1400 Metres was steadied when crowded by TEST FOR LOVE (R Kingscote) which shifted in when not clear. R Kingscote was reprimanded. When questioned, H Bowman stated that after being crowded in the early stages M UNICORN settled further back than what had been intended. He said entering the Back Straight when he was of the opinion the pace of the event was not genuine he elected to allow M UNICORN to commence a forward move near the 800 Metres which resulted in M UNICORN being able to obtain the lead near the 600 Metres and sustaining its run to win the event. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped with them, sent forward to take the lead, challenged by rival from 400M, made contact early in straight, kept on well but unable to hold off the first two final 50M.

Bumped at the start. For some distance after the 1200 Metres raced keenly and got its head up. For some distance near the 350 Metres was held up for clear running behind DEVAS TWELVE. After the event, H Bentley stated that from an inside barrier his mount commenced well and was able to take up a slightly more forward position than intended. Sent for sampling post-race.

Approaching the 600 Metres became unbalanced when crowded between TEST FOR LOVE which was racing tight to the inside of RISING FROM ASHES and STURDY RUBY which shifted out before being corrected by its rider.

After the event, Y L Chung stated that after making use of his mount to go forward in the early stages from the outside barrier LOVERO gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
