Began well from a wide draw, sent forward to race prominently, 2 wide, took the lead approaching 1200M, found rail near 800M, shared lead with rival on turn, peaked and headed 300M, weakened final 200M. (See Racing Incidents.)

B Avdulla (BUNDLE AWARD) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 400 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out whilst riding it along, resulting in BUNDLE AWARD making heavy contact with ANOTHER WORLD on two occasions and taking ANOTHER WORLD from its rightful running. B Avdulla was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. Near the 250 Metres made contact with BUNDLE AWARD. Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.

Bumped start, raced better than midfield on the outside, moved closer after passing 1000M, shared lead on turn, peaked and headed 300M, weakened inside final furlong.

Approaching the 400 Metres became unbalanced when it shifted to the outside of SKY HEART and made contact with ANOTHER WORLD on two occasions. B Avdulla pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 400 Metres (see ANOTHER WORLD). Near the 250 Metres raced tight between ANOTHER WORLD and SKY HEART when endeavouring to continue to improve between those runners. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well from gate 12, sent forward to race prominently on the inside, allowed rival to cross near 800M, sat right behind the leader on turn, no clear run in straight, eased final 100M.

Jumped with them, positioned 3 wide in midfield, no cover from 800M, carried wider 550M, made some progress early in straight, peaked on run 150M, weakened gradually close home.

After the event, B Thompson stated that at its last start his mount was able to dictate terms without being pressured in front. He said today NEW FUTURE FOLKS was pressured in the lead by SKY HEART which resulted in the horse not finishing the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Taken back from gate 10, raced 3 wide with cover towards rear, commenced move 500M, very wide into straight, made good progress in the run home.

The Stewards considered an application made by Trainer F C Lor that the horse be declared a non-runner on the basis that it had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from the Starter Mr A Speechley, Jockey K C Leung and Mr Lor, the Stewards established that EVERYONE’S STAR reared as the start was effected when being assisted by a starting gate handler. As the Stewards were satisfied that such occurrence occurred simultaneously to the start being effected, EVERYONE’S STAR was declared a runner. Before being allowed to race again, EVERYONE’S STAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. Near the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of DRAGON JOY to obtain clear running.

Bumped on jumping, raced 2 wide slightly behind midfield, there to turn, no clear run early in straight, made good progress thereafter to take 2nd, no threat to the winner.
