After the event, H Bowman reported that he was given no specific instructions where to settle his mount other than to avoid racing behind other runners as SKY PROPHET had resented the kickback at its last start. He said when SKY PROPHET showed good pace in the early stages he was able to position his mount outside the lead, however, was obliged to race wide and without cover. He added under pressure in the Home Straight SKY PROPHET did not respond to his riding which he attributed to the "Wet Slow” track conditions. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Shortly after the start was crowded between CHEER FOR SOUTH and SUPER JOY which shifted out. After the event, K De Melo stated that his mount did not respond to his riding in the early stages and as a result settled at the tail of the field. He said CAMP FIRE did not appreciate racing on the All Weather Track due to its rating of "Wet Slow” and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
