Began awkwardly and lost ground, raced 2 wide towards rear, 6 lengths or so back, 3 wide from 700M, 4 lengths back turning in, finished off strongly to score by a neck.

Moderately away from gate 1, raced slightly behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, no clear run early in straight, made good progress thereafter to take 2nd.

Between the 350 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up before being shifted to the inside of JOYFUL LIFE to secure clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well, took the early lead, headed 1050M, sat right behind the leader in the middle stages, retook the lead 250M, kept on well but unable to hold off the first two final 25M.

For some distance near the 500 Metres was shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIA ICON to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with JOYFUL LIFE. Lay out over the final 200 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Away with them, raced in midfield on outer, 2 lengths or so back turning in, made good progress early in straight, peaked on run 150M, weakened final 50M.

In the middle stages raced keenly. Between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running. For some distance after the 200 Metres then raced in restricted room between JOYFUL LIFE and LAPRAS which shifted out slightly. When questioned, Apprentice P N Wong stated that from the outside barrier her instructions were to ride her mount with cover in the early stages. She said after commencing awkwardly SO AWESOME was shifted across behind runners in the early stages when positioned at the rear of the field. Assistant Trainer W H Ip representing Trainer K L Man confirmed the instructions were to obtain cover but advised that SO AWESOME settled further back in the field than expected when it commenced awkwardly. Noted to have blood in the mouth after the race.

Began well, positioned 2 wide, 2 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, no daylight early in straight, cleared approaching 100M, finished off evenly.

Near the 1000 Metres raced in restricted room between LUCKY MAN which was racing tight to the inside of JOYFUL LIFE and GO HERO which shifted out slightly. Near the 50 Metres was bumped by CALIFORNIA ICON which shifted out.

Jumped well from a wide draw, raced better than midfield on the outside early, took the lead 1050M, led by a length on turn, peaked and headed 250M, weakened final 100M.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Trainer P C Ng confirmed that from a wide barrier the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Jumped with them, raced 2 wide in midfield, there to turn, no clear run early in straight, cleared 150M, ran on evenly to the line.

Taken back to race behind midfield on the outside, difficult to settle in the early and middle stages, 3 lengths back turning in, showed limited response early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1200 Metres got its head up and refused to settle. Near the 800 Metres, when continuing to race keenly, shifted out when being steadied away from FLYING PHANTOM. THE KHAN then raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Out in line, raced 3 wide better than midfield, 1 to 2 lengths back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

In the early stages raced keenly and when being crossed by REGENCY HAPPY STAR (A Badel) approaching the 1200 Metres got its head up when that runner shifted in when not quite clear. A Badel was advised to ensure that he is two lengths clear when shifting ground. LUCKY MAN then continued to race keenly throughout the early and middle stages. After the event, Z Purton stated that his mount raced too keenly in the early stages and raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at tail, 7 lengths back turning in, made no impression in straight.

For some distance near the 500 Metres was taken wider by REGENCY HAPPY STAR which shifted out to improve. In this incident JOYFUL LIFE was bumped by REGENCY HAPPY STAR. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Average to begin, positioned 2-1/2L behind the leader, saved ground on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.
