Began only fairly, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, finished off well to take a place.

Bumped on jumping by ISLAND BUDDY. Shortly after the start was then checked when crowded by ISLAND BUDDY (M Chadwick) which shifted in and away from NOBLE DELUXE (A Hamelin) which shifted in. Both M Chadwick and A Hamelin were advised to exercise more care and make a greater effort to prevent their mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped with them, sent forward to race prominently, shared lead on turn, peaked early in straight, ran on evenly to the line. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event, B Avdulla stated that the intention was to find a position with cover but in the early stages when runners to his outside did not show intent to lead INVINCIBLE LUCKY maintained the lead without being pressured to do so. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions were from an inside barrier to hold a more forward position than at its previous race starts, particularly with blinkers being reapplied but had not expected INVINCIBLE LUCKY to lead the event. Sent for sampling post-race.

Average to begin, raced in midfield on the outside, 3 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, peaked early in straight, kept on same pace to the line.

Shifted out, made contact with the left side of its barrier on jumping and lost ground.

Crowded shortly after start, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made some headway in straight. (Lame right front leg next day.)

Taken back to race towards rear on the outside, 4 to 5 lengths back on turn, very wide into straight, finished off very strongly to score by a neck.

Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its barrier, raced prominently on the inside, shared lead on turn, kept on well in straight but unable to hold off the winner late.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running. Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when positioned close to SUNNY DA BEST. After the event, C L Chau reported that when the pace of the event steadied near the 600 Metres TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR commenced to race keenly and was steadied for some distance thereafter when awkwardly placed close to RIDING HIGH.

Jumped with them, raced slightly behind midfield, 4 lengths back on turn, made some progress in straight.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 450 Metres was taken wider. In the early part of the Home Straight hung in and proved difficult to ride out, resulting in its rider H Bowman changing his whip through to his right hand near the 300 Metres.

Jumped well from a wide draw, took the lead, shared lead with rivals on turn, peaked and headed early in straight, weakened final 300M.

Approaching the 450 Metres was hampered when taken wider by RIDING HIGH which shifted out to improve.

Jumped well, raced in midfield, 3 to 4 wide, dropped towards rear 450M, failed to make any progress in straight.

Near the 250 Metres was steadied to avoid TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (C L Chau) which shifted in to obtain clear running. C L Chau was advised to exercise more care.

Began only fairly from a wide draw, raced at tail, 5 to 6 lengths back on turn, made no impression in straight.

After the 900 Metres, when racing greenly, was steadied to avoid TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR. Approaching the 400 Metres was taken wider by MY FLYING ANGEL which shifted out to improve.

Began well, raced slightly better than midfield, 3 wide, similar position on turn, one-paced in the run home.

Incident Report
Shifted in at the start and was bumped. Near the 150 Metres, when giving ground, shifted out after being eased to avoid RIDING HIGH when that runner lay in and away from SUNNY DA BEST. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
