Incident Report
Near the 550 Metres was steadied when it improved close to LEAN MASTER. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer Y S Tsui stated that SERGEANT PEPPER had trialed well on 26 November 2024 after its last start. He said he attributed tonight’s improved performance to SERGEANT PEPPER being down in grade and racing over its preferred distance of 1000 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Bumped start, positioned 2 wide, 5 lengths or so back, commenced move 400M, showed very good response in straight, hit the front 150M, kept on very well to the line and scored.

Crowded at the start between SILVER SPURS and SIGHT HAPPY which shifted out.

Bumped shortly after start, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 lengths or so back, 3 wide turning in, not enough room near 250M, ran on evenly thereafter.

Approaching the 100 Metres endeavoured to obtain a tight run between LEAN MASTER and SPICY SPANGLE and in this incident made contact with CHAMPION METHOD which was endeavouring to obtain the same run.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear on the outside, commenced move 450M, very wide into straight, finished off strongly to take 2nd.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Bumped start, raced behind midfield on the inside, angled out approaching 350M, no clear run early in straight, made minor progress thereafter.

Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with SUPER SIXTY. When commencing to finish the race off over the concluding stages was unable to be tested when held up between SILVER SPURS and SUPER SIXTY. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped on jumping, raced 2 wide towards rear, angled out 400M, bumped and unbalanced early in straight, made minor progress inside final furlong.

Reared as stalls opened and lost ground, raced at rear on the inside, 6 lengths or so back on turn, angled out 350M, very wide into straight, bumped 300M, finished off well to take a place, no threat to the first two.

For some distance approaching the 100 Metres was held up when disappointed for clear running. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CHAMPION METHOD at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CHAMPION METHOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Noted to have lost its left hind plate after the race.

Bumped start, raced in midfield on the inside, 3-1/2L back, 2 wide from 400M, no clear run early in straight, cleared 200M, weakened gradually thereafter.
