After the event, M L Yeung reported that his instructions were to hold a forward position as STRIVE FOR GLORY had raced well when ridden in a similar manner in a barrier trial on 15 October 2024.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear, 14 lengths behind the leader in the middle stages, still 9 to 10 lengths back turning in, made very good progress in straight to take a place, nearest on line.

Noted to have blood at the right nostril after the race. An endoscopic examination conducted on SPEEDSTAR found that there was no blood in its trachea and therefore the blood in the nostril was determined to be not coming from the lungs and as such the horse was deemed not to have bled. <2/12/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Officer reported that SPEEDSTAR was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDSTAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Out with rest, sent forward to take the lead and set a fast tempo, led by 1-1/2L turning in, kept on well in straight but unable to hold off the winner near finish. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event, A Hamelin reported that he was obliged to ride his mount along in the early stages to hold a position at the back of the field, but RATTAN WORLD failed to travel throughout the event and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Shortly after the start was bumped and became unbalanced when crowded between SONIC BOOM and PATCH OF WATCH which shifted out abruptly. Near the 800 Metres was steadied away from PATCH OF WATCH.

After the event, Apprentice P N Wong stated that the instructions were to lead, but her mount jumped awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and lost ground. She said as a result PATCH OF WATCH settled further back in the early stages, then raced keenly and refused to settle throughout the early and middle stages of the event when caught wide behind GORGEOUS VITALITY. She said as a consequence in the Home Straight PATCH OF WATCH failed to respond to her riding. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PATCH OF WATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.
