Made contact at start, raced 2 wide towards rear in the early stages, 3 wide from 800M, 5 lengths back turning in, made good progress in straight to make frame without threatening. (Blood in trachea.)

Jumped only fairly. Near the 300 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when improving to the inside of DRAGON STAR which shifted in slightly. Sent for sampling post-race.

Made contact at start, raced in midfield on the inside, 3 lengths or so back, commenced move after passing 450M, bumped early in straight, finished off strongly to score.

Began well, sat 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on rail, angled out 400M, bumped early in straight, took the lead 200M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 100M.

After the 250 Metres was disappointed for clear running to the inside of PEGASUS GENERAL and shifted to that runner’s outside where it obtained clear running near the 200 Metres.

Shifted out at start and bumped, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, dropped to 3rd 650M, peaked on turn, eased early in straight.

Approaching the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of CHARITY GAIN to obtain a clear run. C L Chau was warned for raising his whip arm above shoulder height on several occasions in the Home Straight. Trainer C S Shum confirmed that his instructions to C L Chau were to ride HAKKA RADIANCE in a conservative manner in the early stages to offset the outside barrier.

Made contact at start, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length, shared lead with rival from 500M, peaked and headed 400M, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Jumped awkwardly. When questioned, H Bowman stated that in the Home Straight PERFECT PAIRING lay in and proved difficult to ride out. Notwithstanding this explanation, Jockey Bowman was advised that whilst the Stewards were satisfied that his riding over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he should, wherever possible, continue to ride his mounts out to the finish.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 2 lengths or so back, angled out 450M, very wide entering straight and dropped towards rear, made no impression in the run home.

After the event, A Badel stated that his instructions were to lead the event, but his mount did not show sufficient pace to do so. He said after racing outside the early leader SOLAR GOGO, ARTHUR’S KINGDOM did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of ARTHUR’S KINGDOM was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, ARTHUR’S KINGDOM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Began well, raced behind midfield on the inside, 5 lengths or so back, moved a bit closer along the rail on turn, made good progress early in straight, peaked 100M, ran on evenly to the line. (Lame right front leg next day.)

After the event, A Hamelin reported that from the inside barrier his instructions were to hold a forward position but not necessarily to lead. He said when his mount jumped well he was able to hold the lead without being unduly pressured to do so. He added that from the 600 Metres SOLAR GOGO came under pressure before weakening noticeably in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SOLAR GOGO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SOLAR GOGO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
