Began only fairly from gate 1, positioned 4 lengths behind the leader on rail, saved ground throughout, made some progress early in straight, no extra final 150M.

Made contact at start, raced in 2nd early, positioned 3rd from 1100M, 2 to 3 lengths back in the middle stages, kept on well in straight to take a place, always held.

Jumped awkwardly and lost ground, raced towards rear, 6 lengths or so back, similar position on turn, finished off very strongly to score.

Noted to have a small abrasion to the right hind fetlock at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped awkwardly. For some distance near the 800 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from CHATER GOLD.

Moderately away, raced 2 wide behind midfield, commenced move 500M, showed very good response in straight, hit the front 200M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 50M, finished 2nd.

C L Chau (TOP PEAK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of HARMONY GALAXY, resulting in HARMONY GALAXY being taken in towards CHATER GOLD, causing CHATER GOLD to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to be checked. C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Saturday, 28 September 2024 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. From the 450 Metres until the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.

Made contact at start, positioned 2 wide, 3 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, kept on evenly in straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Away well, sent forward to take the lead, led by 2 lengths turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 200M, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.) (Blood in trachea.)

After the event, K Teetan reported that his mount did not travel at any stage and he was disappointed with its finishing effort. Trainer F C Lor stated that the horse had pleased him in a barrier trial on 3 September 2024 and the only explanation he could offer was that LUCKY IMPACT may not have run out a strong 1400 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The performance of LUCKY IMPACT was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race start. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY IMPACT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Taken back from gate 9, raced at rear throughout, never a factor.

C L Chau pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference after the 1100 Metres (see CHATER GOLD). After the event, C L Chau reported that the intention was to find cover, but in the early stages his mount raced keenly and as a result he crossed to lead in the early stages. He added in the Home Straight TOP PEAK failed to respond to his riding and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The performance of TOP PEAK was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, TOP PEAK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Taken back to race at rear on the inside, 5 lengths or so back turning in, failed to close off in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Withdrawn on 14.9.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, MILES AWAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
