Rail position in mid-field, dropped to last pair into home straight, strong run between horses from 300m out, edged ahead close home, won comfortably.

Approaching the 500 Metres made contact with SPANGLE FORTUNE when SPANGLE FORTUNE improved to the outside of THE WAY WE WIN which was commencing to give ground. Z Purton stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position, but after jumping only fairly, shifting out and making contact with ZETTA FORCE his mount settled further back in the field than intended. Sent for sampling post-race.

Showed good speed to get across, set strong pace, kicked final bend, stayed on well, headed by winner close home.

In rear after shifted out at start, switched wide and briefly hampered 750m out, commenced move out wide 500m out, stayed on but unable to get on terms with leaders.

Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with POWER SUMMIT. Near the 750 Metres was hampered when taken wider by MATSU VICTOR which shifted out.

Wide early, across to track leader, pressed leader top of home straight, flattened out final 100m.

H Bowman stated that the intention was to settle in a midfield position. He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to continue forward to avoid covering additional ground.

Waited with towards rear, pushed along wide into home straight, one paced and never going pace to get competitive.

Bumped leaving stalls, raced in touch with leaders, dropped to mid-field halfway out, had to wait for run turning into home straight, lacked pace to challenge.

On jumping made contact with THE WAY WE WIN due to both runners shifting ground. Approaching the 500 Metres was shifted to the outside of THE WAY WE WIN and made contact with ORIENTAL SURPRISE. SPANGLE FORTUNE was then held up for clear running behind THE WAY WE WIN for some distance thereafter. Near the 300 Metres was steadied when being shifted to the outside of THE WAY WE WIN to obtain clear running.

Settled in rear of mid-field, keen 750m out, unable to pick up for pressure from 400m out.

Near the 750 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from ORIENTAL SURPRISE. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Held up last, still in last place top of home straight, never going pace to challenge.

Noted to have blood in the mouth at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Raced in touch with leaders, driven along 550m out, outpaced and left behind in home straight.

Near the 1300 Metres was steadied when crowded by THE WAY WE WIN which, after shifting in and away from WINDICATOR FAMILY (H Bowman), was then taken in by WINDICATOR FAMILY. H Bowman was reprimanded. M F Poon stated that his mount was under pressure from the 800 Metres before being unable to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped out of stalls, three wide in mid-field without cover, pushed along 500m out, weakened final 250m, eased once well held.

Bumped at the start. C L Chau stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped exiting stalls, ridden along from stalls to track leaders, struggled to hold position from 700m out, well beaten.

On jumping made contact with SPANGLE FORTUNE due to both runners shifting ground. H T Mo was fined the sum of $5,000 for using his whip on five consecutive occasions shortly after the start. The performance of THE WAY WE WIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, THE WAY WE WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
