Average to begin, raced slightly behind midfield on the outside, 3-1/2L back turning in, showed very good response in straight, took the lead 100M, kept on very well to the line.

Bumped near the 900 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began smartly from gate 11, raced prominently, 2 wide, there to turn, kept on well in straight to take 2nd.

Near the 100 Metres made contact with ALWAYS MY FOLKS when taken out by KING ALLOY. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well from the widest draw, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/4L turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 100M, stayed on evenly to take a place.

R Kingscote pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see SPICY SPANGLE).

Bumped shortly after start, raced better than midfield but trapped 3 wide, travelled keenly, moved closer after passing 700M, no cover throughout, made some progress early in straight, peaked 100M, ran on evenly to the line.

Bumped with ROBOT KNIGHT shortly after the start due to both runners shifting ground. Near the 900 Metres was bumped by ROBOT KNIGHT when that runner was taken out slightly by SPICY SPANGLE. Near the 100 Metre was bumped. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Bumped shortly after start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 2-1/2L back turning in, kept on same pace in straight.

Jumped awkwardly. Bumped with ALWAYS MY FOLKS shortly after the start due to both runners shifting ground. Taken out slightly near the 900 Metres and was bumped.

Moderately away, raced slightly behind midfield on the inside, 2 wide from 450M, wider turning in, made minor progress in the run home.

Bumped at the start. Momentarily crowded near the 800 Metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres when being shifted to the outside of ELEGANT LIFE.

Jumped only fairly, positioned a length behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, hard ridden early in straight, checked near 200M, peaked 100M, weakened thereafter.

Jumped only fairly. R Kingscote (KING ALLOY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of SPICY SPANGLE, resulting in SPICY SPANGLE being crowded for room and having to be checked. After assessing the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and having regard to his very good record, the Stewards determined the appropriate penalty to be a reprimand. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Fast into stride, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened gradually final 100M.

Bumped start, raced towards rear on the inside, 6 lengths or so back turning in, made some progress in straight.

Bumped on jumping. Near the 900 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by SPORTIC WARRIOR.

Taken back from gate 10, raced at rear throughout, never a factor.

When being shifted behind ELEGANT LIFE near the 900 Metres shifted in and was steadied to avoid that runner. M L Yeung stated that he was given no specific instructions but when a number of runners to his inside showed good pace and he was concerned he would have not obtained cover he elected to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages to avoid covering additional ground.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide towards rear early, moved closer in the middle stages, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Bumped on jumping. Near the 900 Metres NEBRASKAN (D B McMonagle) shifted in when not quite clear, resulting in ISLAND BREEZES being taken in onto SPORTIC WARRIOR. As a consequence SPORTIC WARRIOR then shifted in and away from ISLAND BREEZES and became unbalanced when it made contact with HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER. D B McMonagle was advised to ensure that he is two lengths clear when shifting ground. Crowded near the 800 Metres.

Began well, showed no early speed, raced at rear on the outside, 8 lengths or so back turning in, failed to make any progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Near the 900 Metres made contact with SPORTIC WARRIOR. Approaching the 800 Metres was steadied when crowded between SPORTIC WARRIOR and MODEST GENTLEMAN which, after being taken in by ROBOT KNIGHT (K Teetan), then shifted in and away from that runner. Whilst the Stewards acknowledged that K Teetan had corrected his mount, he was advised to exercise more care. C L Chau stated that after settling back in the field as expected his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight which he attributed to the rail being in the C+3 position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
