Began well from gate 14, raced at rear on the stands' rail, failed to make any progress final 400M.

Slightly slow out, raced towards rear, hard ridden after passing 250M, finished off strongly to take 2nd, just beaten by a narrow margin. (See Racing Incidents.)

Z Purton reported that his mount slipped behind on jumping and as a result jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start shifted in and was bumped. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Began well, raced prominently, took the lead 250M, kept on well, just able to hold off the challenger.

Near the 800 Metres was steadied to avoid ROMANTIC WARRIOR (J McDonald) which shifted in when not quite clear. J McDonald was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. Passing the 350 Metres endeavoured to obtain a narrow run between SUNLIGHT POWER and VOYAGE BUBBLE. When VOYAGE BUBBLE then shifted out slightly MY WISH made contact with SUNLIGHT POWER approaching the 250 Metres and as a result had some difficulty obtaining clear running between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres.

Made contact at start, raced towards rear on the stands' side, hard ridden from 400M but showed no response, eased final 150M.

Noted to have a small abrasion in the left nostril prior to the race, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Raced very wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. Bumped near the 250 Metres.

Jumped only fairly, raced towards rear, 3 to 4 lengths back, moved closer approaching 500M, kept on well until no extra final 100M.

Shifted in at start and made contact, raced in midfield, hard ridden after passing 400M but only showed limited response, weakened inside final furlong.

Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by VOYAGE BUBBLE which after initially shifting in then raced tight to the inside of ROMANTIC WARRIOR (J McDonald). J McDonald was advised to exercise more care. In the early and middle stages raced keenly and near the 800 Metres was checked to avoid MY WISH when that runner was steadied. Approaching the 300 Metres lay in and proved difficult to shift to the outside of SUNLIGHT POWER. When questioned M Guyon stated that his mount raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages of the event. He said after being positioned behind MY WISH near the 700 Metres he was obliged to check his mount when STRAIGHT ARRON and SUNLIGHT POWER improved to his outside which resulted in GALAXY PATCH being positioned close to the heels of MY WISH when it continued to race keenly.

Jumped awkwardly, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on the middle track, peaked 300M, weakened thereafter.

Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by VOYAGE BUBBLE (Z Purton) which shifted in. Z Purton was reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground whilst not clear.

Began smartly, showed good speed to take the lead, headed 500M, weakened final 300M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
H Bowman stated that his mount came under pressure making the Home Turn and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight. Trainer J Size advised the horse had pleased him prior to the event but could offer no explanation for the horse’s performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of RED LION, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, RED LION will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
