L Hewitson stated that he was asked to go forward and lead but connections had requested him to remain racing away from the rail as they felt it was advantageous to race in this position. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.

Jumped with them, raced better than midfield on the outside, 2nd after entering the back straight, 1/2L back turning in, hit the front 200M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 100M.

Near the 800 Metres was steadied away from CHILL EASY. Bumped near the 350 Metres. A Atzeni stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position with cover. He said in order to obtain cover he was obliged to ride MIGHTY MASTS in a conservative manner in the early stages and as a result settled slightly further back than intended.

Slightly slow out from the widest draw, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept to inside after straightening and made some progress until not enough room final 100M.

A Badel stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages and to ensure it was given clear running to the outside in the Home Straight. Assistant Trainer C K Chung, representing Trainer C Fownes, confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping, raced 2 wide slightly better than midfield, similar position on turn, kept on well early in straight, peaked approaching 100M, weakened thereafter.
