Began well from the widest draw, raced slightly better than midfield but trapped wide, 3 lengths or so back, there to turn, showed limited response early in straight, kept on same pace to the line. (See Racing Incidents.)

Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid EMBLAZON (C L Chau) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. C L Chau was reprimanded. Near the 900 Metres was contacted heavily on the hindquarters by MALPENSA, resulting in GREAT SPIRIT becoming unbalanced.

Began awkwardly and made contact, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground throughout, showed limited response early in straight, weakened final furlong.

Bumped shortly after start, sent forward to take the lead, travelled well to turn, peaked and headed 400M, weakened final 150M.

Began only fairly, positioned 3 wide with cover, 4 lengths or so back, similar position on turn, finished off well to take a place, no threat to the first two.

Bounded on jumping and lost ground. Near the 900 Metres became badly unbalanced and lost ground when being severely checked to avoid MALPENSA when that runner gave ground quickly and shifted out. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Taken back from gate 10, raced behind midfield on outer, bumped near 1200M, 5-1/2L back turning in, made no progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.) (Blood in trachea.)

Near the 900 Metres was steadied and shifted out to avoid MALPENSA. <22/12/2025 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that TORVEIN was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, TORVEIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Bumped at start, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made no impression in straight.

When questioned Z Purton stated that his mount was fractious in the starting gates and as a consequence jumped only fairly. He said throughout the early stages MALPENSA was reluctant to hold its position to the inside of other runners and approaching the first turn near the 900 Metres he was obliged to severely check his mount when MALPENSA shifted out when reluctant to hold its position to the inside of GREAT SPIRIT which shifted in slightly. He added that as a consequence MALPENSA lost significant ground and did not finish the race off thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of MALPENSA were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MALPENSA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial around a bend in Hong Kong from an inside barrier. Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
