Crowded shortly after the start between RED ELEGANCE and ETERNAL FORTUNE. After the event, C L Chau stated that his instructions from a wide barrier were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the event, Z Purton could offer no explanation for his mount’s failure to finish the race off in the Home Straight. Trainer M Newnham stated that, in his opinion, YOUTHFUL SPIRITS was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead by ALLGREEKTOME and races best when able to dictate terms without being pressured. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. The performance of YOUTHFUL SPIRITS was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, YOUTHFUL SPIRITS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped awkwardly. After the event, A Badel stated that, in his opinion, SERGEANT PEPPER may not have appreciated being stepped up in the Class 3 company tonight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began only fairly, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made good progress in straight to take a place.

After the event, M F Poon stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position, but not to make use of his mount to do so. He said when BITS SUPERSTAR began only fairly he elected to settle further back than what it had at its previous race start.

Began well from gate 1, positioned 1-1/4L behind the leader, there to turn, kept on well in straight to take 2nd, no threat to the winner.
