Bumped at the start and became unbalanced. Near the 400 Metres lay in and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOLLY JUMPER which shifted out. Lay in in the Home Straight. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began only fairly and crowded, raced towards rear on the middle track, 3 lengths back, made no progress final 400M.

Bounded on jumping and then shortly after was steadied when crowded by MAJESTIC DELIGHT which shifted out. Held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Bumped on jumping, positioned 2 lengths behind the leader, nearer to the middle track, no clear run until approaching 150M, one-paced thereafter.

On jumping was steadied when crowded between YOUNG HORIZON and HE WAS ME which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind BLING BLING GENIUS.

Jumped well from gate 1, tracked leaders on the middle track, hard ridden 350M, kept on evenly to 150M, weakened gradually close home.

After being crossed by COLONEL leaving the 800 Metres commenced to race keenly and near the 600 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from COLONEL. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well from gate 13, sent forward to take the lead on the stands' rail, hard ridden approaching 300M but only showed limited response, headed 250M, kept on evenly to take a place.

A Badel pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 500 Metres (see SMART ENGINEER).

Bumped on jumping, raced behind midfield on the stands' side, hard ridden 300M, peaked 200M, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Made contact at start, tracked leaders on the stands' side, hard ridden after passing 300M, finished off well to take 2nd, no threat to the winner.

Briefly held up for clear running near the 400 Metres. C L Chau confirmed that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Near the 200 Metres became held up for clear running behind COLOURFUL WINNER and was then shifted to the outside of COLOURFUL WINNER in an attempt to obtain clear running. Passing the 100 Metres was then steadied when disappointed for clear running between COLOURFUL WINNER and MY FLYING ANGEL. As a result TEAM HAPPY could not be fully tested to the finish of the event.

Shifted in and made contact with THE CONCENTRATION on jumping. Near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between SMART ENGINEER which shifted out and away from COLONEL and JOLLY JUMPER (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in. Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised he must make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting in when not clear.

Away well, taken back to race behind midfield on the middle track, hard ridden from 350M but only showed limited response, weakened final 150M.

Raced very wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. Near the 250 Metres was hampered when taken wider by HE WAS ME which shifted out.

Incident Report
Jumped only fairly. A Badel (MY FLYING ANGEL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 500 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of SMART ENGINEER, resulting in SMART ENGINEER losing its rightful running and having to be checked. A Badel was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 7 December 2025 and to expire on Thursday, 11 December 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Badel was fined $90,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his poor race riding record.

Began only fairly, raced behind midfield on the middle track, closer in the middle stages, a length back at 400M, hard ridden approaching 300M, showed very good response, took the lead 250M, kept on strongly to the line and scored.

On jumping made contact with the right side of its starting gate and lost ground. Near the 250 Metres was hampered and taken wider by ISLAND GOLDEN. M L Yeung reported that after settling back in the field his mount found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight, particularly with the middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Moderately away from gate 14, raced in midfield on the stands' rail, hard ridden approaching 300M, kept on evenly to the line.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse had sustained a minor abrasion to the right hind leg.

Average to begin, raced prominently in the middle of the track, hard ridden from 300M but only showed limited response, ran on evenly.

D Probert could offer no explanation for the horse’s failure to finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, COLONEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination
