Out with rest, raced at rear on the outside, 7 lengths back, peaked on turn, weakened early in straight, finished tailed out, unacceptable performance.

Noted to have blood in its mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. After the event, A Badel stated that his instructions were to find cover. He said approaching the first turn when he felt the pace of the event eased, he elected to allow CHIU CHOW SPIRIT to stride forward which resulted in it racing wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. He added in the Home Straight CHIU CHOW SPIRIT finished the race off only fairly which he attributed to the horse not appreciating the "Good to Yielding” track conditions. After considering his explanation and the sectional times of the event, the Stewards found the tactics adopted were reasonable in the circumstances. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. Sent for sampling post-race.

Moderately away from a wide draw, sent forward to race prominently on the outside, took the lead after passing 1300M, led by 3/4L on turn, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 200M, weakened close home.

Bumped shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Jumped only fairly, raced slightly better than midfield but trapped wide, moved a bit closer in the middle stages, a length or so back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong.
