Jumped only fairly. Leaving the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and then shifted out to avoid SUPER LOVE. As a consequence CAVA PIONEER made contact with LEGEND STAR. Near the 850 Metres shifted out and made contact with LEGEND STAR.

Moderately away, raced in midfield, 2 lengths or so back turning in, showed limited response early in straight, weakened final furlong.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Leaving the 1000 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by CAVA PIONEER and again near the 850 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by CAVA PIONEER which shifted out.

Moderately away, raced 2 wide better than midfield, there to turn, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.

Approaching the 800 Metres, when racing keenly, shifted out when being steadied to avoid RIDING HIGH.

Bumped on jumping. H Bowman stated that after being taken wider by MONTA FRUTTA near the 600 Metres his mount failed to finish the race off in the Home Straight. Trainer J Size stated that with the early stages being run inside of standard time the horse was not given the opportunity to travel well. He said he would now step the horse up in distance for its next race start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began well from gate 1, positioned 2 lengths behind the leader on rail, saved ground on turn, showed no response early in straight, weakened final 250M. (See Racing Incidents.)

K Teetan reported that the only explanation he could offer for the disappointing performance was that ISLAND BUDDY does not appreciate racing inside other horses. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Jumped awkwardly, sent forward to take the lead, travelled well in the middle stages, headed near 450M, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.
