After three barrier trials, he made his 2YO debut over 1200M running on from behind to finish fourth at Newcastle. On his 3YO seasonal move to Victoria reappearance over 1200M, he led from start to finish to open his winning account at Sandown. He was then stepped up to G3 McNeil Stakes where he finished eighth out of nine runners. On his subsequent start, he dropped in class to contest a 1200M 3YO handicap where he remained at the rear throughout, finishing seventh in an eight-horse field at Moonee Valley.
