Began awkwardly, raced 2 wide behind midfield, 5 lengths back, wider turning in, made good progress in straight to make frame.
Settled worse than midfield, raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages, closed off fairly.
Moderately away, sent forward to take the lead, travelled well to turn, peaked and headed 400M, weakened final 300M. (See Racing Incidents.)

STAR TURN trained by Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes with a record of 3 wins, 2 seconds and 5 thirds in 12 starts including G2 Schillaci Stakes with Craig Williams on board and 3rd in G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, Lightning Stakes, Newmarket Handicap and William Reid Stakes. STAR TURN was formerly owned by Alan Bell, owner of DEEP FIELD, and partly owned by Vinery Stud later. He stands at Vinery Stud since 2017 with 11 black type contests winners. In 2025, his service fee is AUD$ 16,500. SPEEDY PATCH was purchased by current owner Mr. Yeung Kin Man at NZD$ 160,000 in 2024 NZB Ready To Run Sale where he finished 200M in 10.08s during the breeze up run. He was trained by Catherine Cameron in New Zealand and took part in an 800M trial (1st Apr 2025) where he led early but headed late for 2nd while the 2nd runner up has been 8Ls behind on good going. Same sire runners in HK ran on well and prefer Happy Valley. Most of his half-brothers and sisters ran on well in sprint events. The bay gelding should be a sprinter that most effective over mile or under in distance while Happy Valley is fine.
